Job Description
The Finance Summer Intern will work alongside one of three Finance teams (Accounting, Business Intelligence, or Financial Planning & Analysis) to support day-to-day operations and contribute to active projects during the summer program period. This is a supervised, learning-focused role designed to give students hands-on exposure to nonprofit finance operations in a mission-driven organization. Interns will be placed based on team need and candidate interest, and will complete the program by presenting a summary of their contributions and key project outcomes.
The program runs from Monday, June 1, through Friday, August 7, 2026, with flexible scheduling between 16 and 30 hours per week. All interns are expected to work in person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the regional office.
Team Placement Areas
Interns will be assigned to one of the following teams based on availability and interest:
Accounting: Supports financial record-keeping, reconciliation, and compliance processes.
Business Intelligence: Supports data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development to inform organizational decisions.
Financial Planning & Analysis: Supports budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide financial planning.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports day-to-day finance operations within the assigned team, contributing to active projects under manager direction.
Assists with data collection, validation, and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information.
Prepares and maintains reports, dashboards, and spreadsheets to support team decision-making.
Supports budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities as directed by the manager.
Conducts research and summarizes findings to support financial and operational initiatives.
Collaborates with team members and, as directed by the manager, cross-functional partners to gather information and support ongoing projects.
Documents standard operating procedures and supports identification of process improvement opportunities.
Attends team meetings, training sessions, and intern cohort activities to build understanding of nonprofit finance operations.
Delivers a final presentation summarizing internship contributions and key project outcomes at the end of the program.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled in high school or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
Strong interest in finance, business operations, or nonprofit work
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., organizing data, simple formulas)
Ability to work in person at the regional office throughout the program period

Work Environment:
Hybrid work - Reports to the central office or schools three days a week
Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel: May travel to other school sites or regional offices for professional learning, meetings and other work related activities.
