***PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE JOB POSTING BEFORE APPLYING***
You’d be surprised how many people just click, apply, and send without following instructions. That’s the fastest way to get your application deleted. There are specific requirements you must include in your reply — and you won’t know what they are unless you read the whole post. We know how it goes — you see a job title, get excited, smash the “Apply” button, attach a random file you think is your resume, and call it a day. But like I said... that’s the fastest way to land in the “NOPE!” pile.
Here’s the thing: most people still won’t read, and some will even say they’re interested without attaching a resume. Don’t be that person. Show us you can follow directions — it’s your first test.
FULL-TIME JR. BILLING/OFFICE ADMIN POSITION (Mon-Fri, 8-5pm)
PAY STRUCTURE
After 90-day probationary period, this position will allow you to TAKE HOME between $3500-4000/mo.* NET!* Not gross. That's "take home" money. We will talk about this verbally. But it starts at $17/hr, no bonuses until after 90-days, which means your take-home pay will be about $3K/mo during the first 90 days. You would be paid as a 1099.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re a small company of 10 so we are primarily looking for a second billing person to help out with our billing department collect payments. This will likely include getting creative with knowing when and how to get the attention of some of our problem clients who we have an issue collecting payments from. Most of our clients pay on time but we have a handful that gives us the runaround from time to time. So it's a balance between knowing when to push, how far to push, and when to back off. We obviously don't want to piss them off but at the same time we want to hold them accountable to the contract they signed with us and the payment plan they agreed to.
Secondary responsibility would be to handle running the machines that put together all my direct mail advertising we send out every week (this takes about 8-12 hrs total per week, depending on how fussy the machines are at any given time). This is a very simple, mindless task.
And third, someone to call old leads during down time to try to make appts for my sales agents (no cold calling; these are all leads who my sales agents have already had conversations with). If you make an appointment and that appointment eventually becomes a client, you will be paid a $100 bonus for it. There are always ways to earn more income in this office. It's not just the hourly pay.
QUALIFYING SKILLS
- Time Management (being able to eventually handle a high volume of files on a weekly basis
- Active Listening (being able to answer customer questions and concerns and sometimes being able to think of solutions on the fly when the situation is complicated – AKA, being able to pull shit out of your ass that sounds good to a client! LOL!
- Attention to Detail (detailed notes in our system is important)
- Computer Skills (there is a lot of typing in this position so if you are slow at typing, being productive and getting through files in a timely manner will be a challenge; but you don’t need to be “fast” either. Typing 30-40 WPM is the minimum with good accuracy)
- Patience! (keep calm and avoid escalations)
WHAT WE DO AS A COMPANY
We are a company that deals with homeowners in foreclosure, about to lose their home. We help find them solutions to keeping their home by working directly with their lender on their behalf, mainly helping them with a loan modification, bankruptcy, loan reinstatement, forbearance programs, stopping foreclosure sales... or just buying them some time. And they pay us a monthly fee for our services.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Someone who doesn't have a lot of outside concerns that makes it challenging to be reliable and calling out sick/asking for days off too often, coming in late all the time, etc. If you are someone that ends up taking more than 1-2 days off per month, then this is not going to be a good fit.
The ideal candidate (and this is also just as important as the job) will also see it as a "perk" to be working in a non-professional office. lol! So if you are wanting to be in a professional, corporate working place where everything is done by the book, WE ARE NOT THE OFFICE FOR YOU! We are a small office and we are all pretty much family and close friends. We do NOT do everything by the book but we feel we provide a very nice working environment with perks that "professional, corporate" offices don't. Some people might see this as a bad thing, other's might see this as a good thing. We're a "fun" office as long as work is getting done and clients are being taken care of.
NUMBER ONE PRIORITY
Number one priority are our clients. They pay a lot of money for the service we provide. At the end of the day, all I care about is work is getting done, deadlines are being met, and clients feel like they are getting the attention and service they are paying for. That's it. It's pretty simple. As long as that is being taken care of, we are mostly a very relaxed, chill company and working environment. And sometimes that means rolling with the punches. Not everything will be a pro. There might be some cons but I would like to think that the pros significantly outweigh the cons.
WHAT WE OFFER AND WHAT TO EXPECT WORKING HERE
- Paid 5 days of vacation/PTO to start
- Paid major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day)
- Annual pay raise based on employee performance
- Christmas bonus based on company and employee performance
- Annual Summer Picnic
- Annual Christmas Party
- Chill, unprofessional office! LOL! We are an office of only 7 right now but looking to hire and train to amp up our backend.
HEALTH BENEFITS
Since this is 1099, there are no health benefits but if you want I can help you get really good coverage through CoveredCA. Most of us have BlueShield through CoveredCA and it's awesome and better than what most companies offer to their employees. Personally, I feel it’s always better to get your own private insurance than get the crappy insurance your employers provide for you anyway. But that’s just my opinion. I'm happy to go into detail about this later. But I just don't see a point in paying $50-100 per check, having really high deductibles before your insurance kicks in, and having high $25-60 co-pays. What's the point?
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
Serenity will hit its 12th birthday on April 30th, 2026. We are looking for someone to continue growing with us, and someone who can fit in with all of our personalities mixed with yours, and still get the job done. We work hard but we also know when to play hard. Most of us are family and friends and we hope that whoever we hire becomes a "friend" as well and not just an employee. Like I said... if work is getting done, and clients are happy, we can be a very chill office environment and certainly not a "professional" office! :) We can be inappropriate at times as long as we are not offending anyone! Ha! We try to be mindful of that. But again... all of us know each other pretty well and it's just the way we are. So if that is not you, please don't waste your time applying for this position! We are not looking for a Karen! We are not just looking for someone to do the job. The job is not that complicated if you’re a detailed person and have common sense and basic skills. We are looking for someone that can do the job PLUS FIT IN PERSONALITYWISE.
RECAP AND REMINDER
This is an ENTRY‑LEVEL position. If you’re expecting a *NET* income higher than what’s listed here, this isn’t the role for you. Yes, your years of experience might be impressive, and yes, you might deserve more — but that’s simply not what’s on the table for this position. We’ve had people try to come in and “negotiate” the pay by talking about all their years of experience and qualifications. Maybe look for a bigger company that has more to offer and more growth opportunities. While we do promote from within first, that is not Serenity Financial at the moment. We are very small. And yes, there are annual raises and other ways to pad the paycheck (we can talk about that during the interview). But here’s the thing: the number is the number. If the listed pay works for you, great! If not, no hard feelings — but please save yourself (and us) the time. I don't care if you were the CEO of your last company with a million years of this and that under your belt. That's not what is available here.
FINALLY!!!! IF YOU MADE IT THIS FAR AND "IF" YOU'RE STILL INTERESTED AFTER READING ALL THIS MADNESS...
Then here’s your first “interview.” In addition to your resume, please send us a short video (around 2 minutes) covering three things:
#1 What stood out most to you about this job posting?
#2 Why you think you’d be a great fit for this type of office?
#3 A little about YOU — what you do for fun, your typical Friday/Saturday night like, if you have pets, hobbies, or anything “boring” about yourself! lol!
Seriously — most anyone with little experience and common sense can do this job. We will train you. But what we care about most is your personality. Show us who you are. So please send us a short video (iCloud Link, Google Photos, YouTube, or video file--most email don't allow for more than 25MB per email which is why we are suggesting a link to a video instead of sending the actual video file.)
Thank you,
John (owner)
