Job Title: IT Support Specialist
Contract: 6-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
Location: Vienna, McLean, or Winchester, VA
Job Summary
The IT Support Specialist provides technical assistance for computer systems, software, and hardware. This role focuses on supporting end users, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining day-to-day IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Respond to user requests via phone, email, chat, or ticketing systems
- Troubleshoot issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and applications
- Install and configure systems and software
- Manage user accounts and access using tools such as Active Directory and Office 365
- Document issues and resolutions in ticketing systems
- Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate teams
- Assist remote users with connectivity and VPN-related issues
- Maintain inventory of IT equipment and assets
Required Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems
- Understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
- Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Zendesk
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and user support skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a support environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in help desk, desktop support, or service desk roles
- Familiarity with Active Directory and Office 365
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and system setup
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL
Experience Level
Open to candidates with 0 to 5+ years of experience
Work Environment
Work arrangement may be onsite, remote, or hybrid based on business needs
May involve rotational shifts or on-call support
