Overview
A growing, multi-site healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Executive Director of IT to lead and oversee all aspects of information technology across the enterprise. This senior leadership role requires a strategic and forward-thinking healthcare IT professional with a strong track record of implementing and optimizing technology solutions that drive operational efficiency, scalability, and quality patient care.
The Executive Director of IT will be responsible for setting IT strategy, leading the IT team, strengthening infrastructure, and ensuring technology initiatives align with organizational goals and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Identify and implement emerging technologies to enhance operational performance and service delivery.
- Partner with executive and operational leadership to ensure systems effectively support clinical and business workflows.
Technology Roadmap
- Drive the creation and maintenance of a long-term technology roadmap to support organizational growth.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, integration, and system optimization.
IT Governance & Compliance
- Establish and maintain strong IT governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, data security standards, and industry best practices.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Define and communicate clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
Infrastructure & Systems Oversight
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure and scalable IT infrastructure.
- Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of core clinical and business applications.
- Support onboarding and integration of new providers, facilities, and service lines.
Vendor Management
- Evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors and third-party partners.
- Negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and optimal service levels.
Data & Analytics
- Develop strategies for data management, reporting, and analytics to support clinical decision-making and business intelligence.
- Ensure security, privacy, and integrity of sensitive data.
Project Management
- Lead IT initiatives from planning through execution.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic priorities.
Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage the IT budget.
- Provide financial reporting and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Requirements
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience within healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, infrastructure, and enterprise applications.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, IT governance, and large-scale project management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Deep understanding of healthcare compliance and data security standards.
