Job Overview
The New York State Department of Labour (DOL) is seeking an experienced Senior IT Specialist to support IT infrastructure, site surveys, and equipment installation across multiple DOL sites in the Central and Western New York regions.
This role involves working across multiple platforms and network environments, providing advanced troubleshooting, installation, and technical support for the agency’s hardware, software, and communication systems.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong hands-on experience with Cisco/Aruba network devices, data communication systems, and field-based IT operations, while ensuring system reliability and timely issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot PCs, printers, servers, and VoIP phones.
- Provide support for Cisco and Aruba routers, switches, and Meraki Wireless Access Points.
- Conduct technical site surveys and ensure compliance with DOL infrastructure standards.
- Perform data cabling installation, testing, and troubleshooting across DOL facilities.
- Manage hardware/software inventories and maintain documentation of IT assets.
- Collaborate with IT leadership and local site managers to plan and implement system upgrades.
- Support end-users in desktop support, networking, and communication equipment setup.
- Utilize MS Office 365, Visio, Project, and ITSM ServiceNow for tracking and reporting.
- Travel as required to DOL sites across the Central and Western NY region.

- 60 Months of Experience installing/troubleshooting PCs and Printers
- 60 Months of Experience installing/troubleshooting servers
- 12 Months of Experience installing/troubleshooting VOIP phones
- 60 Months of Experience installing/troubleshooting data communications equipment
- 60 Months of Experience conducting technical site surveys
- 60 Months of Experience data cable installation/troubleshooting
- 36 Months of Experience conducting inventory control
- 36 Months of Experience in desktop support
