CTO- Founding TechnologistAbout the ProjectOur client is building a new kind of conversational AI - one shaped by Catholic social teaching and moral clarity. The goal is to create a powerful, truth-aligned alternative to mainstream LLMs, grounded in timeless principles and directed toward human flourishing. If you're passionate about frontier AI and faithful to the wisdom of the Church, we want to talk.
The RoleAs the first technical hire and co-founder, you will own the architecture and development of the core AI platform. You'll lead the design, training, and deployment of an LLM-based system featuring retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), theological alignment, and a mobile-first experience. This is a hands-on role with high impact - starting as builder, growing into leader.
Responsibilities - Design and build a full-stack AI application (backend, interface, and AI engine) from MVP through production
- Implement and iterate on RAG pipelines using Catholic source material (Catechism, Scripture, Magisterial documents, etc.)
- Fine-tune or align foundation models to support Catholic moral reasoning and discourse
- Develop and scale infrastructure for model hosting, data pipelines, and end-user interaction
- Translate moral and theological vision into technical architecture in close collaboration with non-technical co-founders
- Build and lead the technical team as the company scales (hiring, mentoring, reviewing code)
- Participate in fundraising, investor meetings, and product roadmap planning as a visible co-founder
Minimum Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in machine learning, AI systems, or full-stack development
- Demonstrated experience shipping production-grade LLM applications (e.g., using OpenAI, LLaMA, Mistral, Claude)
- Proficiency in RAG architecture and vector databases (e.g., Weaviate, Pinecone, FAISS)
- Strong engineering background with fluency in Python, Swift, and Java
- Experience building or contributing to iOS/mobile apps
- Comfort with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and GPU pipelines (e.g., Docker, AWS, GCP)
- Alignment with the mission: a deep respect for Catholic teaching, even if not a theologian
Preferred Qualifications - Experience at an AI lab or frontier AI company (OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepMind, etc.)
- Experience implementing alignment methods like RLHF, Constitutional AI, or model guardrails
- Background in NLP research or faith-based data curation
- Familiarity with theological discourse or Catholic academic resources
