Litigation experience, including court appearances, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation, is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with Orange County Superior Court procedures is preferred. Experience in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino courts is a plus.
Interest in handling high-conflict family law matters, including domestic violence, custody disputes, and complex financial issues.
Willingness to learn how to handle high-asset marital estates, business valuations, and complex compensation structures.
Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Strong computer skills and willingness to learn the firm's case management and billing software.
Self-motivated, dependable, receptive to constructive feedback, and eager to grow professionally.
Ability to work independently when appropriate while recognizing when to seek guidance.
Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting the firm's billable-hour expectations.
Responsibilities
Assist with and progressively manage a caseload of family law matters under the guidance of senior attorneys.
Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, declarations, memoranda, and correspondence.
Conduct legal research and prepare case analyses and litigation strategies.
Attend and make court appearances for hearings, conferences, and trials, as appropriate for experience level.
Assist with trial preparation, including organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and coordinating witnesses.
Communicate professionally and promptly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and internal team members.
Collaborate closely with supervising attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure timely case progression.
Maintain accurate case files, calendaring, and litigation deadlines.
Monitor case progress, identify upcoming deadlines, and proactively communicate necessary next steps.
Maintain accurate and timely billing entries while working toward the firm's 30-hour weekly billable requirement.
Assist with administrative and case management responsibilities as needed, including electronic filing, scheduling, and document organization.
Actively participate in mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities.
