Description
We are looking for an Accountant to provide part-time accounting support for a short-term Contract engagement based in Boston, Massachusetts. This role will focus on cleaning up bill.com and QuickBooks as well as organizing and reconciling financial records, closing out outstanding accounting items, and preparing documentation that supports compliance and future financial review needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a remote environment and can bring structure, accuracy, and clear documentation to time-sensitive projects.
Responsibilities:
Review and reconcile accounting activity across Bill.com and QuickBooks to resolve discrepancies and improve record accuracy.
Prepare and organize 1099-related information to support year-end reporting obligations.
Compile financial schedules and supporting materials needed for tax filing preparation.
Maintain complete and well-documented records so files are ready for audit, compliance review, or investor questions.
Provide accounting support tied to the company wind-down, including transactions connected to clinical and operational activities.
Partner with outside advisors, including tax professionals and consulting resources, to ensure timely completion of outstanding tasks.
Document completed work clearly and communicate findings, adjustments, and recommendations in a straightforward manner.
Assist with final accounting closeout items related to potential intellectual property transaction activity.
Requirements - Hands-on experience using QuickBooks and Bill.com in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage accounting projects independently with limited oversight.
Background in account cleanup, year-end close support, 1099 processing, and audit preparation.
Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting work and maintain thorough documentation.
Experience in biotech or life sciences environments is preferred.
Exposure to clinical trial accounting is an advantage.
