Duties
Safely operate your own tractor-trailer, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, or hazardous materials (Hazmat) loads, within local port and distribution routes
Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to ensure timely pickups and deliveries at LA/LB port facilities and nearby warehouses
Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring cargo is secured according to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and safety standards
Handle logistics cargo with precision, including hazardous goods and dangerous materials, following all hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) guidelines
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle to maintain compliance with DOT regulations and ensure optimal safety
Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports for each shipment while adhering to FMCSA regulations
Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during trips
Skills
Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving within port environments
Skilled in operating various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers with manual transmission capabilities
Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for efficient route planning and execution
Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials handling, and safety procedures for truck loading/unloading
Ability to manually handle freight cargo safely while complying with logistics cargo handling standards
Experience with automobile transportation or delivering freight involving dangerous goods preferred
Strong understanding of truck driving best practices including over-the-road (OTR) routes when applicable and local port drayage operations
