BILINGUAL DISPATCHER – DUMPSTER, TRUCKING & CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS
San Marcos, CA | $25/hr | Part-Time to Full-Time | Paid Training
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a bilingual English/Spanish Dispatcher to help run the daily operations of our busy dumpster rental, trucking, hauling, and outdoor demolition company. You will coordinate drivers, dumpster deliveries and pickups, demolition crews, customers, foremen, inspectors, engineers, vendors, and management while keeping schedules organized and resolving problems as they come up.
This is a hands-on operations position, not a basic receptionist or data-entry job. The right person is extremely punctual, organized, technology-savvy, comfortable giving direction, and able to stay calm and take ownership when plans change.
Villa Demolition & Hauling Inc. is a growing San Diego County dumpster rental, hauling, trucking, outdoor demolition, and construction company based in San Marcos. We are looking for a bilingual English/Spanish Dispatcher who is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of a fast-paced operation.
This position starts part-time, 3–4 days per week, with the opportunity to move into a full-time position after successful training and approximately 90 days of full-time performance.
Starting pay: $25/hr
ABOUT OUR COMPANY
We are a San Diego County dumpster rental and outdoor demolition company based in San Marcos. Our dumpster rental operation supports residential customers, contractors, demolition projects, construction sites, events, and large-scale projects throughout San Diego County.
Our dumpster division is a busy part of our daily operation. We coordinate dumpster deliveries, pickups, swaps, additional dumpsters, hauling, and disposal, while working directly with customers, drivers, contractors, demolition crews, and field supervisors. Customers can reserve dumpsters online, but our team also handles customers who prefer to call or email for help selecting the right dumpster, scheduling delivery, making payment, or understanding our rental and loading requirements.
Our second major division is outdoor demolition and site clearing using heavy equipment. We do not perform interior demolition. We specialize in taking outdoor areas apart and preparing them for the next phase of construction.
Our demolition work includes:
* Pool demolition and removal — one of our specialties
* Complete outdoor demolition
* Concrete and hardscape removal
* Heavy-equipment demolition and hauling
* Preparing properties as **blank slates for new hardscape or landscape construction when requested by the client
Our crews work with heavy equipment to remove existing outdoor improvements, haul away debris, and prepare sites for new construction or landscaping.
Because our dumpster rental and demolition operations work together, the Dispatcher plays an important role in keeping both sides of the company moving. A demolition project may require multiple dumpster swaps, concrete or debris hauling, material deliveries, inspections, engineering coordination, and scheduling with the field crew — all of which requires strong communication and organization.
We service San Diego County only, and our customers find us through Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Apple Maps, Nextdoor, Craigslist, OfferUp, and other platforms. We have built our reputation through professional communication, reliable scheduling, clean jobsites, well-maintained equipment, and following through on what we promise.
THIS IS A HIGH-RESPONSIBILITY POSITION
The Dispatcher is the central communication point between:
* 5 truck drivers, with additional trucks and drivers planned as we grow
* Demolition crews
* Field foremen and superintendents
* Customers
* Inspectors
* Engineers
* Mechanics and truck dealers
* Vendors
* Management
Drivers start at 7:00 AM, and this position also starts at 7:00 AM. Being extremely punctual — preferably early — is critical because drivers and field crews depend on the dispatcher to have their routes and schedules ready.
Typical hours are approximately 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with the possibility of working until 5:00 PM or later when the afternoon is busy. This can be a good opportunity for someone who wants more than 8 hours per day and overtime.
Saturdays may also be needed, with flexibility to take a weekday off when scheduling allows.
You need to be organized, direct but reasonable, comfortable giving direction, and able to follow through until a problem is completely resolved.
DISPATCH & DAILY OPERATIONS
Mornings can move quickly. You will coordinate our truck drivers while supporting demolition and hardscape operations.
For example, a field foreman may contact you because:
* A demolition project needs a dumpster picked up
* A replacement dumpster needs to be delivered
* Concrete debris needs to be hauled away
* Base material needs to be delivered
* A driver needs a new route
* A customer changes a delivery or pickup
* A project schedule changes
You will use dispatch and scheduling software to manage routes, dumpster deliveries and pickups, bulk material deliveries, schedule changes, driver communication, and customer communication.
You will also work across 3 computer screens, managing dispatch software, email, calendars, customer information, spreadsheets, documents, and other systems simultaneously.
DUMPSTER CUSTOMER SERVICE & RESERVATIONS
Most dumpster customers reserve and pay through our website. However, some customers prefer to call or email rather than complete the reservation themselves.
You will help customers:
* Determine the appropriate dumpster size
* Ask what type of material they are disposing of
* Explain loading requirements and prohibited materials
* Schedule delivery and pickup
* Take credit card payments when needed
* Help customers understand rental periods and additional charges
Some customers email their project information and receive an invoice or payment link. They may pay by credit card or Apple Pay.
Our software also automates customer communications by text and email, including:
* Order approval
* Payment confirmation
* Pickup scheduling
* Driver-on-the-way notifications
* Pickup confirmation
* Overweight charges
* Additional-day charges
Your job is to manage the operation behind those automated communications and step in whenever a customer needs actual human assistance.
WHEN THINGS GO WRONG
This is one of the most important parts of the position.
If a truck breaks down, a driver is delayed, a dumpster is unavailable, or a customer changes their schedule, you need to rapidly reorganize the day.
That can mean:
* Reassigning a driver
* Swapping trucks at the yard
* Finding another available truck or dumpster
* Rescheduling a delivery or pickup
* Calling customers
* Communicating with foremen
* Adjusting demolition schedules
* Rebuilding the remaining route for the day
We need someone who doesn't simply identify a problem — you take ownership of getting it resolved.
INSPECTORS, ENGINEERS & PROJECT SCHEDULING
Our demolition projects can require coordination with city/county inspectors and project engineers.
The Dispatcher will help coordinate:
* Inspector scheduling and inspection appointments
* Compaction testing appointments
* Coordinating engineers and testing personnel with the field crew so they are available when the site is ready
* Keeping project schedules, inspections, and field operations aligned
* Following up to make sure scheduled inspections and testing actually occur
DEMOLITION PROJECT SUPPORT
We receive demolition inquiries through our website and multiple marketing platforms.
When a customer contacts us about demolition, the Dispatcher gathers the basic project information and passes it to our estimating team. Our estimating team handles the estimate and onsite consultation.
The Dispatcher does not perform estimates.
You will help coordinate demolition projects after they are scheduled, including communication with customers, field crews, inspectors, engineers, vendors, and management.
ADMINISTRATIVE & OPERATIONS SUPPORT
When call volume and dispatch demands are slower, you will also assist with other company operations, including:
* Demolition scheduling
* Permit administration
* AP/AR
* Following up on outstanding payments
* Vendor communication
* Equipment rental scheduling
* Mechanic and truck dealer appointments
* Fuel and purchasing coordination
* Job paperwork
* Calendar management
* Customer follow-up
* Contractor collections and related paperwork
COMPUTER & TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
You should be comfortable working with multiple systems and learning new technology.
We use:
* Microsoft Office, especially Excel and formulas
* Google Workspace, including Sheets and Google Calendar
* Adobe tools
* Dispatch and scheduling software
* AI and other technology tools to improve productivity and workflows
You do not need to know our specific dispatch software on day one. We will train you on our systems, but you need to be comfortable learning technology quickly.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Preferred: 2+ years of relevant experience in dispatch, construction office operations, trucking, logistics, or a similar environment.
We are looking for someone who is:
* Fluent in English and Spanish
* Extremely punctual and dependable
* Highly organized and detail-oriented
* Comfortable giving direction to drivers and field personnel
* Direct, professional, and reasonable
* Able to multitask under pressure
* Strong at communication and follow-through
* Comfortable working across multiple screens and systems
* Tech savvy
* Comfortable with Excel and formulas
* Able to work independently
* Good at solving problems without waiting to be told every step
