Ascent Forestry is hiring a spray technician for an active fuels reduction project in Big Bear Lake (San Bernardino National Forest).
Ascent Forestry is a California mechanical forestry and fuels reduction contractor performing federal and state contract work across the state. Our Big Bear project is a fuels treatment performed to USFS specifications with regular agency inspections. You will join a small, experienced crew committed to quality work and professional standards.
Responsibilities:
- Apply herbicide treatments across designated project units per label requirements and project specifications
- Maintain accurate daily application records including product, EPA registration number, amounts used, acres treated, GPS location, weather conditions, and start and end times
- Mix and load at label rates; maintain and calibrate spray equipment
- Work alongside our felling crew and coordinate with USFS inspectors
- Support general fuels reduction work when conditions do not allow application
Qualifications:
- No applicator license required; training provided for the right candidate
- Experience with backpack, UTV mounted, or truck mounted spray equipment is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail and record keeping; this is federal land work and thorough documentation is required
- Physical fitness for full days on steep, brushy terrain at elevation
- Valid driver's license with a record suitable for operating company vehicles
Compensation: DOE, full time, immediate start.
