Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Upholstery Supervisor to lead our upholstery team in delivering exceptional craftsmanship and quality. In this role, you will oversee daily operations within the upholstery workshop, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. Your expertise will guide team members through complex upholstery tasks, from reupholstering furniture to repairing and manufacturing custom pieces. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the upholstery team, ensuring timely completion of projects
- Oversee reupholstering processes, including fabric removal, padding replacement, and fabric application using manual cutting tools and sewing machines
- Interpret blueprint specifications and technical drawings to guide project execution accurately
- Ensure proper handling and use of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and sewing machines to maintain safety and quality standards
- Manage fabric materials, leather supplies, and other upholstery components to optimize inventory levels
- Conduct quality inspections on finished products to verify adherence to specifications and craftsmanship standards
- Train team members on upholstery techniques such as repairing, reupholstering, woodworking, and assembly of furniture or vehicle interiors
- Implement safety protocols related to manual handling, heavy lifting, and the use of power tools to prevent injuries
- Manage department production list
- Monitor the quality of the unfinished and finished product being produced before it comes into the department and directly before it leaves
Skills
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on precision craftsmanship
- Proficiency in upholstery techniques including reupholstering, repairing, and manufacturing custom pieces
- Skilled in manual cutting of fabric materials and working with leather and other upholstery fabrics
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specification documents accurately
- Experience with woodworking for frame repairs or assembly tasks within upholstery projects
- Competence in operating hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, sewing machines, and other relevant equipment
- Knowledge of fabric materials properties and proper handling methods for heavy lifting or manual handling tasks
- Familiarity with auto restoration or manufacturing processes related to upholstery work
