Steel Traditions manufactures premium custom steel windows and doors for luxury residential and commercial projects. We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Final QC & Shipping Manager to take ownership of every project during the final stages of production and ensure that nothing leaves our facility incomplete, improperly documented, or unprepared for installation.
This is not simply a shipping position and it is not primarily a fabrication position. This person serves as the final checkpoint between production and the customer.
The right candidate is someone who notices details, follows through without being chased, communicates clearly with production teams, and is comfortable stopping a shipment when something is not right.
What You’ll Own
You will take responsibility for projects as they move through the final stages of production, including Final QC, QC Wall, packaging and shipping.
Your responsibilities will include:
Inspect every completed steel window and door before it is approved for packaging.
Verify paint finish, glass, silicone, weatherstripping, hardware, alignment, operation and overall workmanship.
Function-test operable windows and doors, including handles, locks, rollers, pivots, thresholds, door bottoms and specialty hardware.
Record required QC photos and operational videos and ensure documentation is uploaded to the correct project records.
Verify every installation kit against project requirements, including hardware, fasteners, stops, guides, sweeps, touch-up materials and specialty components.
Maintain accurate QC forms, shipping checklists, packing lists, labels and project verification records.
Verify project numbers, unit numbers, QR codes, shipping sequence and installation labels before units leave the facility.
Inspect packaging to ensure finished products, glass, hardware and accessories are adequately protected for transportation.
Coordinate loading sequence and shipping readiness with Operations.
Identify missing hardware, incomplete work and production roadblocks before they become shipping emergencies.
Communicate priorities and deficiencies clearly to Operations and the appropriate production departments.
Track shipping errors, missing components, field issues and warranty callbacks and help identify root causes.
Maintain an organized Final QC and shipping area.
Provide clear daily status updates on projects approaching shipment.
Most importantly, you will have the authority to stop a shipment that does not meet Steel Traditions' quality or completeness standards.
What This Position Is — and Is Not
The Final QC & Shipping Manager is responsible for verification, organization, coordination and accountability.
A separate QC Wall & Finishing Technician supports the hands-on work of installing hardware, setting up units, making adjustments, cleaning, preparing units for inspection and packaging.
You may occasionally assist hands-on when necessary, but your primary responsibility is making sure the overall Final QC and shipping process is being completed correctly.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment.
Mechanically inclined and able to understand how windows, doors and hardware should operate.
Able to read shop drawings, checklists and project documentation.
Comfortable using computers, tablets, photos and video as part of the QC process.
Strong at following a project through multiple steps without losing details.
Able to communicate professionally with production employees and management.
Comfortable identifying deficiencies and requiring corrections.
Able to prioritize several projects with competing deadlines.
Dependable, steady under pressure and willing to take ownership.
Capable of physically inspecting, operating and working around large steel window and door assemblies.
Experience in quality control, manufacturing, windows and doors, glazing, architectural metals, construction, shipping/logistics or fabrication is strongly preferred.

Our existing position description explicitly treats documentation as part of manufacturing and says a project isn't complete until its documentation is complete. I think that philosophy belongs prominently in the advertisement because it screens for the kind of person you actually need.
Why This Role Matters
Our products are custom-built for high-end projects and can represent a significant investment by our customers. A missing piece of hardware, undocumented defect, incomplete installation kit or improperly prepared shipment can result in expensive field visits and construction delays.
The Final QC & Shipping Manager is the last person responsible for catching those problems before the product becomes the customer's problem.
Steel Traditions would rather delay a shipment than knowingly ship an incomplete or defective product.
