Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for a client in Houston, TX. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting modern software solutions from concept through production. This individual will develop full-stack applications and cloud-native services, drive architecture and engineering best practices, leverage AI-assisted development tools, and ensure applications are secure, scalable, and reliable. The role also includes mentoring engineers, improving delivery standards, and taking ownership of production systems and their performance. This position is looking to pay $90-100/hr.

Skills and Requirements
10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years at a Staff or Principal level
Expertise in a modern backend language (C#, .NET, Java, Python, Go, or Node.js).
Experience with React, Angular, or Vue.
Strong background in automated testing, including Playwright.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience owning and supporting production applications.
Extensive familiarity with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
Strong understanding of secure software development practices and application security tooling. Experience in regulated environments (CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
Azure or Azure Government Cloud experience.
Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
Knowledge of software supply chain security, policy-as-code, and cloud-native architectures.
