Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Setup Operator to join our second-shift manufacturing team. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on CNC machining experience who is comfortable performing setups, operating CNC equipment, inspecting parts, and troubleshooting machining issues in a fast-paced job shop environment.
Because we operate in a job shop setting, candidates should be comfortable working with a variety of parts, materials, tolerances, quantities, and setups rather than running the same production job every day.
Previous CNC machining experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC mills according to work instructions, drawings, and CNC programs.
Perform machine setups including tooling, fixtures, workholding, offsets, and material preparation.
Load and verify CNC programs and make necessary machine or tool offset adjustments.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet drawing and customer requirements.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as necessary to maintain part quality.
Identify and troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and quality issues.
Replace and adjust cutting tools as required.
Verify materials, tooling, programs, and documentation before beginning production.
Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
Follow established procedures within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
Communicate production, tooling, machine, and quality issues to supervisors and other team members.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
Qualifications
Previous CNC machining experience required.
Previous CNC setup experience strongly preferred.
Experience working in a job shop or high-mix manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to independently operate CNC mills
Ability to perform CNC machine setups or demonstrated experience assisting with setups.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and machining specifications.
Working knowledge of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T.
Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Understanding of cutting tools, speeds and feeds, tool wear, and basic machining principles.
Ability to make tool and work offset adjustments.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain productivity during second shift.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing quality parts.
Experience working within an ISO 9001 or similar quality-controlled manufacturing environment preferred.

This is a job shop environment, so flexibility is important. Candidates should be comfortable moving between different jobs, materials, machines, setups, and production requirements.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
