We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our first-shift manufacturing team. This position is ideal for a skilled programmer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced job shop environment, where part types, materials, quantities, and machining requirements can change frequently.
The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing efficient, accurate CNC programs and machining strategies for a variety of precision components. The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, understands manufacturability and tooling, and can work effectively with machinists, engineering, quality, and production personnel.
Experience with Mastercam and/or Autodesk Fusion is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, modify, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC programs for precision-machined components.
• Review customer drawings, CAD models, specifications, tolerances, and other technical requirements.
• Develop machining strategies, toolpaths, setups, workholding concepts, and tooling requirements.
• Program CNC milling and/or turning equipment based on shop capabilities and production requirements.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
• Optimize programs to improve cycle times, tool life, quality, and overall machining efficiency.
• Support machinists with program prove-outs, first-piece setups, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
• Identify potential manufacturability issues and communicate concerns before or during production.
• Make program adjustments based on inspection results, machine performance, or production feedback.
• Maintain organized and properly controlled CNC programs and related manufacturing documentation.
• Work closely with Quality to ensure parts meet customer drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Follow established procedures within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to programming, setup reduction, tooling, and machining processes.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Qualifications
• Previous CNC programming experience required.
• Strong experience in a job shop or high-mix precision manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with Mastercam and/or Autodesk Fusion preferred.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling, workholding, speeds and feeds, and machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
• Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances and precision machining requirements.
• Experience programming a variety of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, steel, and other common aerospace/industrial materials.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot programming and machining issues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to balance quality, efficiency, tooling considerations, and production requirements.
• Comfortable working in an environment with changing priorities, short runs, prototypes, and repeat production work.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 or similar quality-controlled manufacturing environment preferred.
