We are looking for an RVT who wants to become exceptional at what they do.
We are not looking for someone who knows everything. We are looking for someone who has a strong clinical foundation, takes responsibility for their work, wants to keep learning, and takes pride in providing excellent patient care.
One year of experience is welcome. What matters to us is what you can actually do, how you treat patients and clients, how you work with your team, and whether you are willing to grow.
THE RVT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Candidates should be able to demonstrate competency in:
• Venipuncture and blood collection
• IV catheter placement
• Anesthesia monitoring and documentation
• Recognizing changes in anesthetized patients and responding appropriately
• Surgical preparation and aseptic technique
• Laboratory sample collection, preparation, processing, and basic interpretation
• Medication calculations and basic veterinary pharmacology
• Digital radiography, proper positioning, and radiation safety
• Patient restraint and safe handling
• Accurate medical record documentation
• Client communication and patient advocacy
• Following medical protocols and maintaining hospital standards
Experience with exotic animals, pocket pets, reptiles, or non-traditional species is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to teach the right person who already possesses the fundamental skills expected of an RVT.
WHAT MATTERS JUST AS MUCH AS TECHNICAL SKILL
We are looking for someone who is:
• Dependable and punctual
• Professional and respectful
• Accountable for their decisions and mistakes
• Comfortable receiving constructive feedback
• Able to communicate clearly with doctors, coworkers, and clients
• Willing to help the team rather than saying, “That isn’t my job”
• Interested in continuing education and professional development
• Compassionate with patients while remaining efficient and clinically focused
OUR 90-DAY INTRODUCTORY PERIOD
Every new team member begins with a 90-day introductory and performance evaluation period.
During this period, we evaluate clinical competency, attendance, communication, professionalism, teamwork, patient safety, accountability, and the ability to consistently follow VetCheck medical protocols.
We don’t expect perfection on Day One.
We do expect honesty, effort, competence in the fundamentals, and measurable growth.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate the clinical skills represented on their résumé during the hiring and introductory process.
If additional coaching is needed, we will coach.
If a skill needs refinement, we will help refine it.
If you are motivated to become better, we will invest in you.
But maintaining VetCheck’s standards of patient care, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork is a condition of continued employment.
WHY VETCHECK?
We believe good technicians shouldn’t remain stagnant.
We mentor.
We teach.
We challenge.
We develop people.
And we recognize people who grow.
Our objective is to build confident veterinary professionals who understand why they are performing a procedure, not simply how to perform it.
If you are an RVT who wants responsibility, continued development, hands-on medicine, and an opportunity to become substantially stronger in your profession, we would like to meet you.
Newer RVTs with approximately one year of experience are encouraged to apply if you have the clinical foundation and attitude we are looking for!
