Business Manager — Bed & Breakfast Inn
Position Type: Part -Time
Reports To: Owner/CEO
Location: Bella Collina Bed & Breakfast, Amity, Oregon
Position Summary
The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the inn, ensuring that the property runs efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with the inn’s standards of hospitality. This position combines business administration, financial management, marketing, and operational oversight.
The ideal candidate will have leadership ability, good communication and managerial skills with knowledge in finances, operations, and business priorities.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a hands-on management position within a small hospitality business. The Business Manager should expect to interact regularly with guests, employees, vendors, and ownership.
The position may require/provide a flexible schedule for operational requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
Position Type: Part-Time to start, with potential to become FT
Salary: Starting Wage $26-$28/hr (DOE)
Key Responsibilities
Business & Financial Management
• Oversee daily business operations and administrative functions of the inn.
• Monitor expenses, cash flow, and operating performance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and expense management.
• Maintain accurate records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoices, deposits, and vendor payments.
• Review occupancy, room rates, revenue, and other key business metrics.
• Work with the owner and/or accounting professionals on financial reporting, and other administrative requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and control operating costs.
• Maintain appropriate business licenses, permits, insurance records, and regulatory documentation.
• Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, service providers, and local business partners.
• Assist with inventory management for guest amenities, food, wine, office supplies, and other operational needs.
• Oversee reservation processes and help optimize occupancy and room revenue.
• Monitor booking channels, rates, availability, cancellations, and guest communications. Support Inn Keeper with Booking
Management Reservations, Sales & Marketing
• Assist with pricing and promotional strategies in coordination with ownership.
• Maintain the inn’s website, online booking presence, and business listings as appropriate.
• Manage social media, email marketing, promotions, special packages, and local partnerships.
• Monitor online reviews and reputation across relevant travel and review platforms.
• Develop relationships with local tourism organizations, businesses, and other referral partners.
Qualifications
• Prior experience in hospitality, lodging, hotel/inn operations (Preferred but not required-Will Train)
• Prior Business management preferred.
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Comfortable working with budgets, financial records, spreadsheets, and business reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and work effectively with a small team.
• Proficiency with common office software and ability to learn new software
• Ability to work independently and make sound day-to-day decisions.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, reliability, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred but not required, will train)
• Experience managing a bed and breakfast, boutique hotel, lodge, vacation property, or other small hospitality business.
• Knowledge of hospitality reservation and property-management systems.
• Experience with digital marketing, social media, online travel agencies, and reputation management.
• Familiarity with local tourism and hospitality networks.
• Experience managing vendors, contractors.
