Job Summary:
This is not a remote position. Museum Educators work a minimum of 30 hours a week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m and after hours are required.
Job Duties:
Museum Educators are the main providers of visitor interaction at the Capitol Museum and required to wear business casual attire.
Museum Educators do all of the following:
• Provide guided tours of the Museum and both the historic and current legislative chambers.
• Greet visitors and answer questions about Museum exhibits and Arizona government.
• Provide backup for Museum Gift Shop staff by ringing up customer purchases and restocking merchandise.
• Monitor exhibits, clean display cases and report repair and cleaning needs.
• Prepare visitor handouts and exploration materials.
• Help track and enter visitor statistics and other data.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Arizona history and state government
• Skill in public speaking
• Ability to speak confidently, clearly and precisely to large groups of people
• Ability to coordinate work responsibilities with fellow staff members
• Ability to lead tours for up to 5 hours a day
• Ability to explain government and civics concepts to visitors of varying ages and backgrounds
• Ability to memorize and retain facts
• Ability to actively engage large groups of school-age children
• Ability to feel comfortable and interact socially with visitors, especially children
Selective Preference(s):
• Interest in Arizona history, state government and civics
• Experience in public speaking and working with children
• Experience working in a frontline position
