Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Sit Down Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role is essential for efficiently managing the movement, loading, and unloading of materials within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in operating sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment, ensuring safety and accuracy in all warehouse operations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-organized logistics environment, supporting seamless warehouse distribution processes and inventory management.
Responsibilities
Operate sit-down forklifts, including reach trucks, to load and unload goods safely and efficiently.
Perform order picking using forklift equipment and barcode scanning systems to fulfill shipping requirements accurately.
Manage inventory by organizing stock within the warehouse, conducting regular stock counts, and updating warehouse management systems.
Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety standards.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs to maintain optimal forklift performance while adhering to OSHA safety protocols.
Support warehouse management in maintaining organized storage areas and implementing best practices for materials handling.
Follow manual handling procedures for heavy lifting tasks to prevent injuries and ensure compliance with safety standards in production environments.
Skills
Proven experience operating various types of forklift equipment such as sit-down forklifts.
Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control processes.
Knowledge of warehouse operations including shipping & receiving, order picking, load & unload procedures.
Familiarity with barcode scanning technology for logistics accuracy.
Ability to perform basic math calculations related to weights, measurements, and inventory counts.
Awareness of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to heavy equipment operation and materials handling.
Experience with equipment repair or troubleshooting forklift issues is a plus.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and warehouse supervisors.
Physical ability for manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and prolonged standing or operating machinery.
