Experienced CNC Mill Machinist / Programmer Wanted
Pay: $35–$40/hour (depending on experience)
Location: San Diego
We are a small precision machine shop looking for an experienced CNC Mill Machinist / Programmer to join our team.
We specialize in precision machining and take pride in producing high-quality parts with attention to detail. We are a small team where each person plays an important role in producing quality precision parts. Our work includes a variety of precision parts, prototypes, and short-run production jobs.
The ideal candidate enjoys challenging work, solving machining problems, and taking ownership of projects from blueprint to finished part. The right person will have experience in CNC programming, setup, machining, and inspection, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Schedule
• Monday–Friday
• Day shift
• No mandatory overtime
Responsibilities
• Program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC mills
• Create, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs using Mastercam and make program adjustments at the machine as needed
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and job specifications
• Select appropriate tooling and establish efficient machining setups
• Perform tool changes, adjust offsets, and complete prove-outs
• Machine precision parts with multiple operations and setups
• Perform in-process inspection and first article inspection (FAI) when required
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to ensure quality parts
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Work independently while meeting production schedules and quality requirements
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of CNC mill programming and setup experience
• Strong experience with CNC milling and machining precision parts
• Experience with Mastercam programming preferred
• Experience with prototype and short-run production machining preferred
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T
• Experience using inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs
• Experience with CNC controls such as Haas or similar preferred
• Strong understanding of tooling, work holding, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to manage priorities and work with limited supervision
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a small team environment
