Job Summary
The Cinema Studies department is encouraging applications for the Cinema Services Specialist position. The purpose of this academic services professional position is to support the development, implementation, coordination, and supervision of the goals, objectives, and activities of the Department of Cinema Studies & Moving Image Arts (CINE), and to provide needed promotional materials for the department and programs. Key responsibilities include operational support, supervision of student employees and temporary staff, oversight of departmental website and social media, and serving as a specialist in established operational and technical practices, workflow creation and implementation, and other needs to support program managers and faculty.

Who We Are
The Department of Cinema Studies & Moving Image Arts (CINE) integrates critical, historical, and theoretical study of cinema, media and the visual arts with artistic and commercial practices. The department offers BA and BA/MA in critical film studies, and BA, BFA, and MFA degrees in film and video arts. Students in critical studies and production tracks complete courses in cinema history, film analysis, film theory, genres, documentary practices, directors, national and regional cinemas, and related history and theory classes. Courses are coordinated with filmmaking and critical studies majors to foster deeper understanding of the subject.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Department Front-End Support
Implement support procedures to meet department goals and objectives. Ensure objectives are realized through support from website design to daily operations, and determine appropriate actions for concerns or irregular requests from faculty or students.
Coordinate with CINE faculty and staff to achieve objectives and meet material needs through creative problem solving and resource utilization, with an eye toward process improvement.
Provide support for current and prospective CINE students, directing to resources and assisting with inquiries or technical issues.
Organize the daily activities of the front office.
Maintain department mailing lists, publish office hours, and maintain faculty and student mailboxes.
Provide information about the department to faculty, students, alumni, and visitors.
Provide clerical support to department administrators, faculty and staff (word processing, spreadsheets, designing and creating office procedures, forms and records tracking systems, and copying).
Design, maintain, and reorganize (as needed) department webpages, often in consultation with faculty leadership and CINE staff.
Create links to external community websites, campus resources, and CINE events where appropriate.
Independently improve and maintain the website, and assist other staff with adjustments to areas they oversee.
Event, Examination, and Special-Program Coordinator
Coordinate departmental activities and events, working with cross-campus offices and room availability software.
Manage events and special opportunities within the department.
Schedule departmentally controlled spaces for special events.
Plan and coordinate the department's commencement ceremonies.
Academic Program Support
Outreach
Provide tours to prospective students and families interested in studying film, film production, and programs offered by the department.
Plan publicity and marketing materials related to undergraduate program events.
Handle external community communications, outreach to prospective students, alumni relations, and a quarterly newsletter.
Create event flyers and distribute through physical and digital means.
Edit CINE promotional materials using available software and request access to additional software when needed.
Ensure departmental outreach goals are met for all programs, events, courses, and needs as they arise, including social media publishing.
Collaborate with faculty and staff on outreach initiatives related to department events (visiting artists, commencement, IFS special events, CINE-sponsored events, etc. ).
Undergraduate Program Assistance
Oversee the BFA application process (intake, dissemination to BFA committee, and correspondence with applicants and advisors).
Communicate when departmentally controlled spaces are occupied.
Work with Colorado film festivals to connect with CINE students when possible.
Assist in undergraduate enrollment, including access to scheduling systems.
Expand program resources by collecting, interpreting, and reporting data to evaluate undergraduate majors, student credit hours, and funding processes and awards.
Alumni Relations
Catalog alumni contact information, collect updates, send newsletters, and liaise with CINE alumni social media accounts.
Research and analyze alumni success and publish results periodically.
Internship Coordination
Cultivate relationships with business partners, non-profits, and arts institutions to increase the number of CINE-sponsored internships.
Improve the internship program while adhering to CU system guidelines administered by the CU Boulder registrar office.
Enroll students into independent study or internships and maintain confidentiality of student information per federal and state law, in conjunction with the CU system and CU registrar office.
Job Placement
Connect employers with CINE students and alumni.
Develop robust industry and community relationships for CINE, tracking progress and experiences.
