Description:
San Diego Powder & Protective Coatings is a fast-paced, family-owned sandblasting and coatings contractor in business since 1999. Serving San Diego and Southern California for over 25 years with a current workforce of 75+ dedicated employees operating from our 5 acre / 50,000SF facility. We professionally serve both military and civilian clients. We are seeking a highly motivated Painter. This position involves performing industrial coating applications to support the preservation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of parts including naval vessels and marine support equipment.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
• Schedule: Hours of operation: Monday-Friday 600 am -230 pm, + Overtime, with occasional Saturdays (40-50+ hours a week)
• Overtime: Overtime and Saturdays are expected as workload dictates.
• Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour (Depends on Experience)

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Primary responsibility is to paint products, utilizing various paint systems, multi components, plural components, zincs, primers, and finish coats; C-12 and C-14 certifications are a bonus.
• Ability to follow Product Data Sheet requirements – ratio, % Solids, pot life, cure time.
• Calculate coating thickness required through Product Data and apply spray per requirements.
• Measure coating thickness by using a WFT or DFT.
• Understand and accomplish striping and cross pattern application.
• Define and understand differences in products and percentages.
• Be able to complete APCD daily VOC log sheets.
• Cleaning and maintaining spray equipment.
• Manual labor aspect; sanding, masking, plugging, hanging, and moving racks.
Requirements:
• Must be able to pass E-Verify, pre-employment drug test and be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to read and write in English and perform basic math skills.
• Must be able to understand quality standards and adhere to specific written and drawing instructions, along with the ability to understand drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Must follow compliance and safety requirements and standards, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) daily.
• Able to positively interact with customers and coworkers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, and occasionally sit, climb or balance.
• Must be able to work in outside weather conditions (hot, cold, wet and/or humid). Most job requirements take place in the warehouses, but some duties are outside the buildings and require lifting/moving of 10-25 pounds and occasionally lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to obtain security clearance for military base access is a plus.
