JOB DESCRIPTION | Culinary Staff - Pizza Maker
Reports To: Director of Culinary Operations, General Managers
Position Type: Part Time, Full Time, Non-Exempt
Pay: $21.00 per hour, plus share of culinary tip pool (approximately $3-5 per hour)
Schedule: Flexible, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as business needs require.
Position Summary
The Pizza Maker is responsible for preparing high-quality pizzas and related menu items safely, consistently, and efficiently. This role works as part of the kitchen team to support prep, service, cleaning, and overall kitchen execution while following company recipes, procedures, food safety standards, and hospitality expectations.
This position is non-exempt/hourly and may participate in the applicable tip pool in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Essential Functions
-Prepare pizzas and menu items according to company recipes, specifications, and portion standards.
-Stretch, top, cook, finish, and cut pizzas accurately and consistently.
-Complete assigned prep tasks, including dough, sauce, cheese, toppings, and station setup.
-Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked workstations.
-Follow food safety, sanitation, labeling, dating, storage, and product rotation standards.
-Communicate clearly with kitchen team members, supervisors, and front-of-house staff.
-Assist with dish, cleaning, closing, and other kitchen duties as assigned.
-Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations
-Set up and maintain assigned station before, during, and after service.
-Prepare ingredients, toppings, and menu items according to prep lists and company standards.
-Cook pizzas and other food items to proper quality, timing, and presentation standards.
-Monitor ticket accuracy, modifications, allergens, and special requests.
-Restock ingredients, paper goods, and supplies as needed.
-Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating product.
-Reduce waste through proper portioning, storage, and product handling.
Teamwork & Communication
-Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
-Follow direction from supervisors, leads, chefs, and managers.
-Communicate product shortages, quality concerns, ticket issues, equipment problems, or safety concerns promptly.
-Maintain a professional, respectful, and team-oriented attitude.
-Support a positive kitchen culture through urgency, consistency, cleanliness, and accountability.
Operations & Compliance
-Follow all company recipes, procedures, checklists, and kitchen standards.
-Follow health department requirements, food safety rules, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety standards.
-Maintain proper labeling, dating, storage, temperature control, and product rotation.
-Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, floors, storage areas, and common kitchen spaces.
-Use knives, ovens, equipment, chemicals, and smallwares safely and properly.
-Complete opening, closing, cleaning, and food safety tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
-Prior pizza, line cook, prep cook, or kitchen experience preferred.
-Ability to work quickly, cleanly, and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen.
-Ability to follow recipes, prep guides, checklists, and verbal instructions.
-Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
-Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
-Food Handler Card required.
-Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
Physical Requirements
-Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, twist, and move for extended periods.
-Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
-Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, loud, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
-Ability to safely use knives, ovens, kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and standard kitchen tools.
-Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including stretching dough, topping pizzas, lifting trays, cleaning, and stocking.
