Director, Information Technology

Position Summary
GMG Solutions Group is a private equity-backed shared services organization providing executive leadership and corporate administrative support to three portfolio companies: Veristar Energy LLC, Current iQ, and InSite Intelligence. Together with GMG Solutions Group employees, the Director of Information Technology will support approximately 65 employees across four organizations.
This newly created functional leadership role will be responsible for establishing and leading an internal IT function while transitioning key technology services currently provided by outsourced IT consulting partners. The Director of IT will serve as the primary technology leader for end-user support, infrastructure administration, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 administration, deployment of AI tools, and business application support.
The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution during the organization's technology transition. Initial priorities include optimizing and standardizing the Microsoft 365 environment across multiple entities, improving collaboration and user productivity, assessing and mitigating cybersecurity risks, establishing scalable IT governance processes, and developing a long-term technology roadmap that supports business growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Assume responsibility for day-to-day IT support functions currently performed by external managed service providers.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for end-user technology issues.
• Assess, redesign, and optimize the Microsoft 365 tenant structure.
• Improve collaboration through Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Entra ID.
• Conduct cybersecurity assessments and implement remediation initiatives.
• Manage endpoint security, identity management, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Develop and execute IT strategy, governance, and technology roadmaps.
• Manage IT vendors, consultants, contracts, and budgets.
• Establish ownership and support processes for business applications.
• Serve as a trusted technology advisor to executive leadership.
Required Experience
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience with leadership responsibilities.
• 5+ years leading IT operations, infrastructure, or technology service delivery.
• Experience supporting small-to-mid-sized organizations in a hands-on leadership role.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Experience leading technology transitions or insourcing initiatives.
• Proven cybersecurity assessment and remediation experience.
• Experience managing third-party vendors and service providers.
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
