Position Summary
Davidson Heating & Air is seeking an experienced leader to lead the day-to-day operations of our residential and commercial HVAC business.
This individual will be responsible for the overall performance of our field operations, including service, installation, quality, technician development, scheduling, hiring, customer satisfaction, and operational execution. The Vice President will ensure that every customer receives exceptional service while building a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
This role is designed to own the daily tasks of the company, allowing senior leadership to focus on business growth, engineering solutions, complex sales opportunities, and long-term strategy.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Applicants will only be considered if they meet all of the following:
- Minimum 10 years of HVAC industry experience
- Minimum 5 years as a residential and/or commercial HVAC service technician
- Minimum 3 years managing both service technicians and installation teams
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple technicians simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC systems
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Primary ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Lead the daily operation of the service and installation departments.
- Ensure technicians are dispatched efficiently and appropriately based on skill level.
- Ensure the right technician is assigned to the right job.
- Maintain productivity across all field teams.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvements.
- Hold field personnel accountable for performance, professionalism, and customer experience.
Technician Development
The Vice President is ultimately responsible for building the strongest technical team in our market.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing ongoing technical training programs
- Conducting ride-alongs and field coaching
- Identifying skill gaps
- Creating development plans for technicians
- Ensuring technicians follow company standards
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning

Customer Experience
Own the overall quality of service delivered by the company.
Responsibilities include:
- Resolve escalated customer concerns
- Review callbacks and warranty work
- Identify recurring service failures
- Improve consistency across technicians
- Ensure customers receive professional, honest, and high-quality service
- Maintain company reputation throughout every customer interaction
Service & Installation Excellence
- Monitor quality of completed work
- Ensure code compliance
- Reduce callbacks
- Improve first-time fix rates
- Maintain installation standards
- Ensure technicians have proper tools and equipment
Scheduling & Field Execution
Work closely with dispatch and operations to ensure:
- Maximum technician efficiency
- Proper scheduling
- Emergency calls are prioritized appropriately
- Technicians arrive with required materials
- Jobs remain on schedule
Inventory & Parts Coordination
Partner closely with Operations to ensure field success.
Responsibilities include:
- Forecast material needs
- Coordinate with purchasing
- Ensure parts arrive before scheduled work
- Prevent delays due to missing equipment
- Improve communication between warehouse, operations, and technicians
Hiring & Team Development
Partner with company leadership on recruiting.
Responsibilities include:
- Interview technicians
- Evaluate technical ability
- Assist with hiring decisions
- Mentor new employees
- Build career paths within the company
- Improve retention through coaching and leadership
Performance Management
- Conduct performance reviews
- Establish measurable expectations
- Coach underperforming employees
- Recognize high performers
- Foster accountability throughout the organization
Safety
Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring:
- OSHA compliance
- Vehicle safety
- PPE usage
- Safe work practices

Work Environment
This position is based across both Davidson Heating & Air locations:
- Lexington, NC
- Kannapolis, NC
Regular travel between both offices and customer job sites is required.
