The ideal candidate brings strong financial and analytical acumen with a results-driven mindset, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial operations. The Accounting Manager should be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills. who can balance overseeing day-to-day accounting functions with driving process improvements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting, while also fostering strong cross-functional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations
- Preparation of financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis
- Supervise and support a small accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
- Review AP and AR activity, monitor outstanding balances, and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring activities
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers during audits and reporting cycles
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and workflow efficiencies
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to support financial planning and operational decision-making
- Perform additional accounting and finance duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior 3+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger management
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or other relevant accounting certification preferred
- Experience in a small to mid-sized company environment High proficiency in using QuickBooks desktop and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. SAP knowledge will be an asset
- Familiarity with Salesforce is considered an asset
- Experience improving processes and implementing internal controls
