Brave Christian High School is seeking an outstanding
Academic Advisor & College Counselor to join our high school leadership team. This is more than a college counseling position—it is an opportunity to invest in students' lives, partner with families, and help young people discover and pursue God's purpose.
The Academic Advisor & College Counselor serves as a trusted mentor and advocate for students in grades 9–12, providing individualized academic advising, college and career planning, and proactive support throughout each student's high school journey. The ideal candidate is relational, collaborative, highly organized, and passionate about helping students grow academically, spiritually, and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop meaningful relationships with students through individualized academic advising and mentorship.
- Guide students and families through four-year academic planning, graduation requirements, and course selection.
- Partner with parents through regular communication, meetings, workshops, and educational resources.
- Provide personalized college and career counseling, helping students explore universities, Christian colleges, community colleges, military service, trade schools, and career pathways.
- Assist students with college applications, essays, counselor recommendations, financial aid, scholarships, and enrollment decisions.
- Monitor student academic progress and collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to support student success.
- Coordinate college representative visits, college fairs, career exploration events, and parent information nights.
- Maintain accurate student records and assist with graduation planning and post-secondary reporting.
- Contribute to a positive, Christ-centered culture as a collaborative member of the High School Leadership Team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in School Counseling, Educational Counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in academic advising, school counseling, college admissions, college counseling, or secondary education.
- Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and California graduation requirements, including UC/CSU A-G eligibility.
- Outstanding communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative, student-centered approach to supporting diverse learners and families.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and agreement with the mission, values, and Statement of Faith of Brave Christian Schools.
