Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Programmer / Set-Up Technician to join a growing manufacturing team in Henrico, VA. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, adjusting, and operating CNC machinery used in the production of aluminum and steel components. The ideal candidate will have strong machining knowledge, experience creating and modifying CNC programs, and the ability to work with close-tolerance parts while maintaining high quality standards.
Job Duties:
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to manufacture aluminum and steel components according to engineering specifications.
- Perform complex machining operations requiring close tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
- Calculate and adjust machining parameters including speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth of cut, and cutting angles.
- Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs to optimize machine performance and production efficiency.
- Select, install, align, and secure tooling, fixtures, attachments, and workpieces.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary program or setup adjustments.
- Verify part dimensions and quality using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain accurate production records and job transactions.
- Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
- Collaborate with production supervisors and team members to support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Machine Tool Technology, or a related field; or equivalent apprenticeship/trade school training.
- 3-5 years of CNC programming and machine setup experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Experience working with aluminum and steel materials.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze technical information and make sound decisions independently.
- Experience with multi-axis CNC equipment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience optimizing machining processes for efficiency and quality.
