Overview
Madison Resource Recovery Facility is Central Orange County’s premier public disposal facility since September 2002. As Orange County’s leader in processing mixed loads of construction and demolition materials, Madison Materials is based on specially designed, high technology machinery to recover more than 75% of all the materials delivered to it.
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Operations Manager to direct all processing, maintenance, and logistics for a commercial recycling and waste transfer plant. They will oversee sorting operations, optimize equipment efficiency, and enforce regulatory compliance and workplace safety.
Core Responsibilities
- Facility Management: Directs the day-to-day operations of recycling sorting systems, heavy machinery, and transfer station logistics.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforces environmental, health, and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, local regulations), conducts regular audits, and leads safety training.
- Production & Efficiency: Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to maximize throughput, minimize contamination, and reduce landfill waste.
- Personnel Leadership: Hires, trains, and supervises plant supervisors, sorters, drivers, and equipment operators.
- Budget & Administration: Develops operating budgets, forecasts equipment needs, and manages supply chain coordination for outgoing commodities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years of management experience in waste management, recycling, logistics, or industrial operations.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Engineering is highly preferred, though equivalent experience is often accepted.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of material sortation systems, preventative maintenance, and basic electrical/hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Soft Skills: Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving, and data-reporting abilities.
Typical Working Environment
The role is generally fast-paced and hands-on, requiring a mix of office-based administrative work and direct oversight on the bustling facility floor.
This facility focused on single-stream recycling, commercial waste, or construction debris.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
