Construction Superintendent — Southern California
Location: Southern California [Orange, Riverside, or San Bernardino Counties Only]
Employment: Full-Time
Compensation: $100,000 ( + / - ), depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits.
About the Position
One of the leading Southern California general contracting firms is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee public works construction projects.
The successful candidate must be capable of independently managing jobsite operations, coordinating subcontractors and in-house labor, maintaining schedules, communicating with public agencies and project professionals, and ensuring that work is performed safely, correctly, and on schedule, in accordance with the plans, specifications, contract documents, and applicable codes.
This position requires substantial public works experience and commercial projects only. Candidates without the required public works contractor experience should not apply.
Key Responsibilities
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents. Commercial, Educational, and Industrial Projects.
• Supervise and manage daily construction operations from start to completion.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and in-house crew.
• Manage schedules, inspections, safety, quality control, and jobsite coordination.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Coordinate with owners, public agencies, architects, engineers, inspectors, and Project Managers.
• Identify and resolve field and scheduling issues.
• Maintain required project documentation and assist with closeout.
Required Qualifications
• 5 to 15 years of relevant experience. Direct experience working for a general contractor on public works projects is required.
• Projects involving public building renovations, new building construction, and/or parks and recreation projects. References will be contacted.
• Proven ability to independently manage subcontractors and construction activities.
• Strong knowledge of plans, specifications, construction procedures, safety, and public works requirements.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
