POSITION SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of both the Injection Molding and Blow Molding production areas in our SQF-certified facility. This role ensures compliance with food safety and quality standards, supervises Packers,operators and technicians, optimizes production processes, and leads continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in both blow and injection molding operations within a regulated manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of SQF (Safe Quality Food) principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise daily production operations across both the Injection and Blow Molding departments, ensuring compliance with SQF certification standards, food safety, hygiene, and quality requirements.
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to start of shift
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of machine operators and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
- Maintain production schedules, ensuring efficiency, minimal downtime, and adherence to operational targets.
- Monitor, adjust, and optimize machine settings to maximize efficiency, product quality, and yield, reducing scrap and defects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, including equipment malfunctions, material handling problems, and production delays.
- Collaborate with maintenance and quality control teams to ensure equipment reliability and consistent product quality.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to drive production efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
- Conduct and document quality control checks and inspections to meet customer specifications and regulatory standards as needed
- Maintain accurate production records, including log sheets, process parameters, and quality reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to SQF certification, and support corrective action plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with planning and inventory control teams to manage inventory levels of raw materials and production supplies, while ensuring timely restocking to prevent downtime.
- Assist with month end paperwork verification
- Approve and coordinate employee scheduling, time-off requests, and shift assignments.
- Document and promptly report all safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate supervisor or department to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Including confidentiality.
- Follow all safety procedures and policies, maintaining a safe and clean work environment at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in injection and/or blow molding production, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of SQF standards, GMPs, and food safety regulations.
- Strong expertise in injection molding and blow molding processes, machinery, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Intermediate to Advanced experience with process optimization, equipment maintenance, and quality control procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and machine operation manuals.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in production management software, ERP systems, and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SixSigma, 5s, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously for up to 8+ hours.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds regularly/occasionally and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, or reach overhead as needed.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to operate tools, equipment, or machinery.
- Visual acuity to read, operate equipment, or monitor surroundings.
- Hearing ability to understand instructions and respond to safety signals in a noisy environment.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and outdoor/indoor environments.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including masks, gloves, or safety glasses.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, including [e.g., typing, or operating tools].
2nd Shift Hours: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
