Nursery Fulfillment Associate – Rare Fruit Trees & Bonsai
Compensation: $22–26/hour
Employment type: Part-time
Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per week
Gala Plants is a small specialty nursery in North County San Diego focused on rare fruit trees, bonsai, and unusual edible plants from around the world. We ship plants to collectors and enthusiasts throughout the United States.
I'm looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to help with shipping, plant care, and general nursery operations.
No plant experience is required. I can teach the plant knowledge. I'm much more interested in finding someone who is dependable, careful, and takes pride in doing quality work.
Typical Responsibilities:
• Preparing plants for shipment
• Down-potting trees into shipping containers
• Carefully packaging plants for safe delivery
• Packing and labeling customer orders
• Watering and fertilizing nursery inventory
• Organizing plants and materials
• Potting seedlings and assisting with propagation projects
• General nursery support and maintenance
Most of the position involves preparing and shipping live plants. The work can be repetitive at times, so attention to detail and consistency are important.
Requirements:
• Reliable and punctual
• Able to lift and move plants, soil, and boxes (up to approximately 50 lbs)
• Comfortable working outdoors
• Able to work independently and follow instructions
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Reliable transportation
Helpful but Not Required:
• Shipping, fulfillment, warehouse, nursery, landscaping, gardening, or other hands-on work experience
• Interest in plants, gardening, bonsai, or agriculture
