Job Summary
The Law Office of Richard R. Sprague is a full-service estate planning, administration, and litigation, and appeals office. The office needs a paralegal/legal assistant to assist with the estate planning and administration sides of the practice. The primary duties will consist of drafting estate planning documents, scheduling, and case management.
Duties
Assist with client intake: calling, e-mailing, and informing prospective clients regarding the intake/outtake process, consultations, follow-ups, and signings. You will also inform the clients about the fee schedule and intake process.
Preparing legal documents such as revocable living trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
Assist attorney with trust administration. This will involve drafting and preparing documents for recording at the OC-Clerk Recorders Office, preparing and serving notices of various sorts, drafting accountings, and ordering/communicating with appraisers.
Assist attorney with probate administration. Probate is similar to trust administration, however, it involves preparing documents for filing with the court, interfacing with court staff, and preparing notices in compliance with legal deadlines.
Organize and maintain case files ensuring all documents and files are properly named, dated, and organized so that they can be quickly and easily identified and accessed.
Manage schedule for court dates, meetings, and deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in cases to gather necessary information.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues. You must be able to make and answer telephone calls and send/manage e-mail communications in a professional and accurate manner.
Previous experience as a Paralegal or in a similar legal administrative role is preferred.
Familiarity with MyCase or other law management software (task management, calendaring, billing)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Computer literacy: you must understand and be able to easily navigate Microsoft Office (using track changes), Outlook, Adobe (creating, editing, combining pdfs), and general Windows programs.
Pay will be commensurate with experience.
