Summary
The Vice President of Supply Chain and Demand Planning is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing and executing integrated planning strategies that drive operational excellence across Ashley Furniture's global supply chain. This position combines oversight of comprehensive demand forecasting with strategic supply planning and network optimization to ensure seamless alignment between market demand, manufacturing capabilities, and distribution operations.
As a key member of Ashley's leadership team, the VP will lead geographically dispersed teams across the United States and Asia, leveraging advanced analytics, forecasting technologies, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize inventory levels, enhance service levels, and support Ashley's position as North America's #1 furniture manufacturer and retailer. This role requires a results-oriented leader who can balance tactical execution with strategic vision in a dynamic, multi-billion-dollar global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Demand Forecasting (35%)
- Develop and implement an integrated supply chain and demand planning strategy aligned with organizational goals and market dynamics
- Oversee the entire demand forecasting process across all channels, including new product introductions, existing product lines, and customer/sales inputs
- Consolidate and harmonize forecasts into a unified, actionable demand plan that drives operational excellence
- Lead supply planning optimization to align manufacturing, distribution, and retail objectives
- Partner with product development and merchandising teams to forecast new product launches and manage product lifecycle transitions
- Leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and forecasting tools to enhance planning accuracy and decision-making
Operational Excellence & Network Optimization (30%)
- Optimize global network design to support efficient flow of products from manufacturing to end customers
- Balance inventory levels across the supply chain to minimize waste while maximizing service levels and customer satisfaction
- Establish and monitor KPIs to measure forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, on-time delivery, and planning effectiveness
- Develop scenario planning and contingency strategies to address demand fluctuations, market uncertainties, and supply disruptions
- Drive risk mitigation initiatives to ensure supply chain resilience in a complex global environment
- Collaborate with procurement and sourcing teams to align planning with vendor partnerships and capacity constraints
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration (20%)
- Partner with sales, marketing, manufacturing, distribution, retail, and e-commerce teams to align planning strategies with business needs
- Work closely with IT to deploy and optimize planning systems, tools, and data analytics capabilities
- Collaborate with finance to optimize working capital, manage budgets, and deliver cost-effective planning solutions
- Integrate promotional plans, seasonal trends, and market intelligence into demand forecasts
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership on forecast accuracy, inventory risks, and growth opportunities
- Ensure data integrity across all planning and forecasting systems
People Leadership & Team Development (15%)
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing supply chain and demand planning teams across multiple geographies
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration
- Build diverse, cross-functional teams with strong succession planning for critical roles
- Champion change management initiatives and process transformation across planning functions
- Develop talent pipelines and career development pathways for team members
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Master's degree strongly preferred (MBA or Master's in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Data Science)
Experience
- 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain planning, demand planning, and/or supply planning
- 5+ years leading cross-functional or global teams with demonstrated success managing geographically dispersed organizations
- Proven expertise in both demand forecasting methodologies and supply planning/network optimization
- Track record of implementing advanced planning technologies and analytics tools (SAP IBP, Oracle Demantra, Kinaxis, Blue Yonder, or similar)
- Experience managing planning for new product launches, product discontinuations, and product lifecycle management
- Strong collaboration skills with sales, marketing, manufacturing, distribution, and IT stakeholders
- Background in manufacturing, retail, or consumer goods industries
- Demonstrated success in driving measurable improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, and service levels
- Expertise in scenario planning, risk mitigation, and managing supply-demand variability
- Experience managing budgets and resources for planning functions
Preferred Qualifications
- Furniture, home goods, or related industry experience
- APICS certifications (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent supply chain credentials
- Experience leading planning integration during mergers, acquisitions, or major organizational transformations
- Advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI experience in forecasting and planning
- International business experience, particularly in Asian markets (Vietnam, China, or other manufacturing hubs)
- Experience with sustainability initiatives and circular supply chain practices
- Proven ability to lead organizational change and process transformation at scale
- Strong executive presence with excellent presentation and communication skills

Travel Requirements
30-40% domestic and international travel required, including regular visits to planning teams, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers across the United States and Asia.

This position is located in a climate-controlled office environment with standard lighting and moderate noise levels typical of professional workspace settings. The role primarily involves sitting at a desk for extended periods while working with computers, phones, and other office equipment. The collaborative environment includes interaction with team members and may require attendance at meetings, conference calls, and cross-departmental communications during regular business hours.
