The role will work closely with Sales, Claims and Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk and Compliance to help achieve strategic initiatives, which will ensure long-term growth of profits for Accident and Health.
How you will create an impact
- This role is your opportunity to drive profitable growth in Accident & Health by working on creative solutions for complex risks. Using your proven relationship building skills, you will be responsible for underwriting a range of new and renewal business in both Corporate and Specialty Markets business.
- As a member of the team, you will set a high standard of customer service to brokers and clients 6 providing an example for junior colleagues to follow. You will also provide guidance, mentoring and training to less-experienced underwriters 6 and support them in building their broker network.
Underwriting / Portfolio Management
- Responsible for underwriting new and renewal business of both Corporate and Specialty Markets, including negotiating pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Monitor the adherence to underwriting requirements and guidelines for assigned book of business.
- Maintain underwriting discipline by adhering to underwriting guidelines, directives, and delegated authority limits.
- Review portfolio analytics and provide leadership in decision making on required actions.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business.
- Assist manager & underwriters in collaborating with Distribution, Business & Product Leaders, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers.
- Identify the need for and manage special underwriting projects as needed.

What you will need to succeed
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience with Accident & Health products with proven technical underwriting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies to grow profitability and production growth.
- Strong customer service ethic, with a sound understanding of the business processes.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and influencing skills and proven ability to collaborate and work across multiple areas of the organization.
- Demonstrated planning, execution, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated and able to set strategic direction.
- Able to work in a team to lead and contribute so that AIG meets its strategic goals.
- Knowledge of country regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Strong presentation, prioritization, and time management.
- Proven ability to motivate and gain commitment and trust from market and colleagues.
- Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and multiple distribution systems.
- Ability to multi-task and handle divisional objectives as requested and handles multiple priorities often under tight deadlines.
- Strong sense of responsibility for ones actions and work.
For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $96,000-$129,000 and for positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $93,000-$130,000 and for positions based in Massachusetts the base salary range is $110,000-$130,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
