About the position. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Technology will oversee the day-to-day execution of the company’s technology strategy, managing IT operations, enterprise systems, and digital initiatives that support field and office performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Technology Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and key stakeholders to execute short- and long-term technology strategy aligned with organizational growth, profitability, and operational goals; translate strategic objectives into specific technology requirements and actionable plans.
- Review and evaluate project feasibility studies based on management’s requirements and priorities; achieve results through disciplined budgets, proper contracts, and efficient decision-making.
- Manage direct reports and IT team members; provide the operational framework, planning, and communication necessary to deliver on technology goals.
Digital Transformation
- Lead the selection and implementation of project management software and drive adoption across field and office teams; oversee BIM, drone technology, and digital field tools to improve project delivery and field-to-office efficiency.
- Champion data analytics and emerging construction technologies including Power BI reporting and business intelligence; keep current on new developments, plan for future upgrades, and drive change management across field and office teams.
Infrastructure & Cybersecurity
- Manage company-wide IT infrastructure, data security, and cybersecurity to protect operational continuity; ensure corporate compliance with applicable government regulations on systems operations.
- Implement and oversee the installation and operation of information systems and equipment across all job sites and corporate locations.
Enterprise Systems & Platform Integration
- Drive Key Initiatives to include evaluation, selection, and implementation of Suntec’s construction-specific project management platform; drive integration across Procore, Viewpoint, BIM360, and related field technology to standardize workflows and improve project visibility.
- Oversee enterprise platform management including Sage (ERP/financials), UKG (HRMS), Clearstory (project financials/analytics), Command Alkon, and batch-plant SCADA/IoT systems; ensure clean data flow across all platforms in support of financial, operational, and project reporting.
IT Budgeting, Vendor Management & Data Governance
- Develop and manage the IT budget; align technology investments with company growth goals including hardware and software procurement for field crews and remote offices.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with software providers, managed service providers, and technology vendors; utilize data analytics for real-time project, resource, and safety reporting.
What you need. To be a hero in this organization, the Vice President of Technology will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
- Proven experience in technology management or leadership, with a track record of success in a similar role; construction or heavy civil industry experience required.
- Deep expertise in construction-specific technology platforms (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, BIM360) and enterprise systems including Sage, UKG, Clearstory, Command Alkon, and Power BI; proven ability to integrate and govern complex platform environments.
- Proven success leading digital transformation initiatives in a field-based or operations-intensive environment; strong strategic planning, budgeting, and technology roadmap skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and team development capabilities with experience managing department heads and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, data governance, and regulatory compliance; strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technology adoption and change management within a traditional, field-based workforce.
