Human Bees is hiring an Operations Manager for a direct hire opportunity with a growing manufacturing client. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overall shop floor operations, including production flow, workforce management, safety, quality coordination, equipment planning, and process improvement.
We are looking for a strong manufacturing leader who can drive production performance, improve workflow, support quality and safety standards, and lead teams in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate will bring a combination of hands-on manufacturing knowledge, people leadership, and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop floor operations to ensure production schedules, workflow, and staffing are aligned with business goals
- Lead and support supervisors and production personnel to drive accountability, efficiency, and performance
- Monitor production activity through floor presence, direct communication, and staff coordination
- Develop and implement operational plans to support productivity, budget goals, and long-term growth
- Partner with the Quality Manager to ensure quality standards and objectives are met
- Support and drive continuous improvement, corrective actions, and preventive actions
- Maintain oversight of labor usage, timecard discipline, training requirements, and skill development
- Participate in hiring, training, performance management, and employee relations
- Support budget planning, headcount planning, and capital equipment needs
- Lead shop floor layout improvements and workflow optimization
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and equipment startup/installation activities
- Help ensure compliance with company safety requirements, training standards, and operating procedures
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing operations management experience
- Strong leadership background in a production or shop floor environment
- Experience with lean manufacturing and process improvement
- CNC machining experience required
- CNC programming experience preferred
- Mechanical assembly experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of brazing, including stainless steel, steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and ERP systems
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to adapt in a changing production environment and manage competing priorities
- Customer-focused mindset with strong operational judgment
Education and Experience
- BS degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred
- Broad technical knowledge in a discipline such as mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering is a plus
- 10 to 15 years of related manufacturing experience required
- AS9100 experience is preferred, but not required
Physical and Work Environment
- Regular time spent on the shop floor
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds as needed
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment that may include moving machinery, noise, fumes, temperature variation, and PPE requirements
