About the Position
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Manager, Finance plays a critical operational role on BRAC USA’s finance team. This position oversees day-to-day financial operations, reporting, compliance, and grants management, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial systems. The Senior Manager collaborates closely with the Director of Finance, the Senior Manager of Grants & Compliance, and the outsourced accounting firm to support BRAC USA’s financial health and regulatory compliance.
BRAC USA operates in a hybrid work environment, with headquarters in New York City. This position is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare Budget vs. Actual (BvA) reports at both the departmental and consolidated levels.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to BRAC, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage investment portfolio tracking and general partner reconciliation across multiple accounts, in coordination with the Director of Finance.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing documentation, schedules, and supporting materials as required for a timely and successful audit.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of the IRS Form 990 and related schedules.
Grants Management and Donor Reporting
- Collaborate with the Senior Grants & Compliance Manager to ensure full-cycle award management and data integrity in BRAC USA’s financial and award systems.
- Review donor financial reports and prepare invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant agreements and donor requirements.
- Support the development of grant proposals by providing financial analysis, budgets, and compliance guidance.
Financial Operations and Administration
- Perform and oversee monthly close review activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP.
- Review quarterly reconciliation schedules, including the roll forward schedule, grants payable, grants receivable, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Manage cash offset processes and maintain accurate tracking of temporarily restricted funds.
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including processing bills and initiating wire payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Administer credit card reconciliation and employee reimbursement programs, including management of the Ramp expense platform.
- Manage state charity registrations, ensuring BRAC USA remains in good standing across all required jurisdictions.
- Oversee the renewal and management of business insurance policies, liaising with relevant brokers and providers.
- Provide financial services and ad hoc support to related BRAC entities as requested.
Organizational Leadership and Collaboration
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and model BRAC USA’s values of integrity, innovation, inclusiveness, and effectiveness.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to junior finance staff.
- Support BRAC USA’s engagement in OneBRAC initiatives as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Qualifications/Skills & Abilities
Financial Expertise
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit financial management.
- Proficiency in accounts payable, payroll processing, grants accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with investment reconciliation and restricted fund management.
- Familiarity with US Government grant regulations and donor compliance requirements.
Communication and Collaboration
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Effective collaborator with diverse, global teams across time zones and cultural backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Analytical and Organizational Skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and implement solutions.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; a concentration in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred but not required; CPA or advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Experience with grants management, donor compliance, and federal grant regulations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Suite, and MS Office; experience with Salesforce, Bill, and Ramp is a plus.
- Experience with complex financial systems and reporting platforms.
Work Environment & Travel
- Fast-paced, mission-driven work environment with multiple priorities.
- Some travel required, including international travel to BRAC programs.
- Core working hours are based on Eastern Time, with flexibility required to accommodate global collaboration across time zones.

BRAC USA offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a base salary, medical/dental/vision insurance, FSA, life insurance, 401 (k), an annual professional development stipend, and generous paid time off. Note that some benefits are subject to a waiting period; more information can be provided to shortlisted applicants upon request.
The salary for this position is $110,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
