Robert Half is leading a confidential search for a Director of IT to provide strategic leadership over enterprise technology operations. This role is accountable for operational governance, budgeting, audit readiness, vendor performance, and organizational change. It is intentionally non-hands-on and designed for a leader who operates at the strategy, oversight, and execution level through teams and partners.
Reporting to senior executives, this individual will ensure IT is operationally mature, scalable, and aligned with long-term business objectives. The ideal candidate is a decisive leader who can take ownership, delegate effectively, and empower teams while driving accountability and continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide executive-level oversight of IT operations, ensuring performance, resilience, and regulatory alignment.
- Lead, manage, and empower the IT organization by setting priorities, delegating execution, and developing leadership within the team.
- Own IT budgeting, financial planning, cost controls, and vendor spend management.
- Manage IT audits, regulatory examinations, and operational controls with a strong focus on preparedness and risk management.
- Oversee managed service providers, holding vendors accountable to SLAs, KPIs, and contractual obligations.
- Establish, mature, and enforce ITIL-aligned operational processes, including incident, change, problem, and asset management.
- Develop executive-facing reporting that provides visibility into IT health, risk, service performance, and technology readiness.
- Act as a change leader who can assess current operating models and drive organizational and process transformation.
- Partner with senior leadership to define and execute multi-year technology roadmaps aligned to business growth.
- Ensure technology platforms remain secure, scalable, and capable of supporting a highly efficient organization.
- Remain informed on industry trends, regulatory considerations, and emerging technologies impacting IT operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading IT organizations in regulated or audit-driven environments.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence, delegate, and drive accountability.
- Demonstrated success managing IT budgets, vendors, audits, and third-party relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of experience leading IT operations subject to regulatory oversight.
- Experience managing enterprise-scale technology initiatives across cross-functional teams.
