Our client, a renowned organization dedicated to supporting community events and initiatives, is seeking a skilled Event IT Lead to oversee the deployment and support of technology infrastructure during high-profile events across New York City. This pivotal role ensures seamless technical operations that enhance event experiences for thousands.
Role Overview
As the Event IT Lead, you will coordinate the planning, setup, and execution of technology solutions at major events, including marathons and races. Your technical expertise and organizational skills will be vital in delivering reliable connectivity, AV support, and troubleshooting assistance to ensure smooth operations from prep to post-event.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the staging, deployment, and breakdown of event technology equipment across multiple locations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to gather requirements, plan logistics, and ensure infrastructure readiness.
- Validate internet, cellular, and backup connectivity, and implement redundancy strategies during events.
- Manage inventory of AV/network equipment, cabling, and peripherals, ensuring proper setup and organization.
- Oversee on-site technical support, troubleshoot live connectivity issues, and assist with equipment recovery post-event.
- Coordinate with internet providers, cellular carriers, and vendors to ensure timely installations and service quality.
- Document procedures, operational lessons learned, and maintain detailed deployment records for future reference.
- Support AV systems including displays, audio, and hybrid meeting setups in conference rooms.
- Work with project teams on logistics and operational initiatives, providing Tier 1 technical support as needed.
- Ensure safety and compliance, including lifting and transporting equipment in various environments.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in IT support, event technology, or AV support.
- Foundational knowledge of internet connectivity, Wi-Fi, and basic networking concepts.
- Experience using testing tools such as cable testers, speed tests, and ping utilities.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams.
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- CTS certification and/or CompTIA A+ certification.
- Knowledge of NYC running community and familiarity with diverse neighborhoods.
- Additional language skills.
- Basic project management skills and experience managing multiple work streams.
