Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on the medical needs of the whole person. The Transplant Financial Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and clarifying patient-specific financial aspects of care, ensuring that all phases of the are completed in an accurate and timely manner in order to guarantee: (1)Transplant Candidate and family fully understand their insurance coverage as it pertains to transplant benefits (2)Transplant Candidate and family fully understand their personal financial obligation for transplant services and (3)that all processes are conducted according to state, federal and corporate regulations. Provides patients with directions that can be clearly understood. The Transplant Financial Coordinator assists in the coordination of daily department operations when necessary including charging, ordering labs, setting appointments, answering the telephone and mailings. The Transplant Financial Coordinator will work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, insurers and administrative personnel in accordance with the Mission and Values of P/SL. When need arises will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

II. Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: None
B. Education: College degree in business or health care field preferred.
C. Experience: 3-5 years experience in health care field including experience in insurance verification and authorization, and financial counseling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
D. Special Qualifications: Requires excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills. Must have the ability to assess information, apply critical thinking processes to determine a course of action and relay this information intelligently to the appropriate party. Clear and concise documentation skills are necessary to provide an accurate log of information exchanged. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information is essential. Strong organizational and people skills required to
handle the multitude of calls and requests for information. Knowledge of Medicare and applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Ability to effectively interview patients and obtain necessary information. Ability to work effectively with insurance companies. Excellent typing and computer skills. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
