Job Responsibilities
Work independently with faculty and staff on the College's Tyger River Campus to evaluate and resolve their software and/or hardware problems. Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, support, and modify all personal computer software, hardware, and peripherals, including but not limited to desktop, laptop, and tablet PCs, network printers, telephones, etc., as well as provide instruction and consultation. This position is the technical support contact and resource for events at the Tyger River Enterprise campus.
Meet with clients to discuss problems, troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices, including but not limited to desktop, laptop, and tablet PCs, network printers, telephones, etc. Order parts if necessary. Handle warranty replacements. Inform client of what was done to fix the problem.
Install new equipment and wiring. Once the task is assigned, the entire project's completion is the responsibility of the technician. Completion refers to installation, connection, testing, removal and disposal of old equipment, contacting proper person to ensure inventory is changed and instructing users in the basic usage of the equipment and any preventive maintenance necessary.
Participate in departmental projects such as new lab setups, wiring projects, inventory, software and hardware upgrades. Weekend and evening hours are sometimes required.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on labs and offices as assigned, including software updates/upgrades and re-imaging of labs as requested.
Plan, Coordinate, and Manage Technical resources for high profile events on the Tyger River Campus. This would include managing the sound setup, ensuring technical equipment in the space is functioning, up to date, and purpose driven for the event needs.
Be on call no more than one weekend per month for campus computer problems plus for any special events or projects as scheduled.
Assist with any other activities assigned as requested by supervisor.
Support, maintain, and troubleshoot the colleges emergency notification software.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
High school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas. An associate degree or bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field; or Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology or related field, and 3 years of related experience.
Additional Comments
Tasks will include lifting and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds, working in confined spaces (behind and under desks, in ceilings, wiring closets, etc.) The employee may be required to be on call one weekend per month and will need to carry a cell phone assigned by the college at all times.
