Job Description
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the key executive providing leadership to the management team and the information systems staff to plan, manage, and develop strategic information in support of the mission of Baptist Health Care and its subsidiaries. The CIO leads the efforts of the CMIO and the CISO to deliver medical informatics and security programs to support the enterprise.
The CIO reports to the EVP/CFO and is responsible for information systems strategic planning, information systems policies, enterprise application implementations, project management, system adoption, system support, computer infrastructure and, telecommunications. The CIO will be an active participant on the senior management team and serve on appropriate committees.
Responsibilities
- The CIO will be proactive in working with the) Senior VP's and Officers - Steering Committees to set direction and have the vision to take advantage of appropriate technology and assuring proper operations of appropriate information needed to support the mission of the hospital and its subsidiaries and be competitive in the marketplace.
- Heads the development of a strategic information plan.
- Develops the Human Resources Information and Payroll System to become more efficient and eliminate/reduce manual efforts.
- Plays an active role in the selection process of a new software, hardware, clinical and telecom telephone/voice system which will best integrate with the IS five-year plan direction.

- Responsible for the technical systems involving evaluating, installation providing leadership and oversite of project management while improving quality, productivity and cost effectiveness.
- Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.
- Is responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services.
- Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements.
- Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
- Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources.
- Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
- Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree Business Information Systems, Business, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Related field Required
- Master's Degree Business Information Systems, Business, Health Care Administration, Related field Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
- 10+ years Progressive information technology leadership experience Required
- 5 years Progressive information technology leadership experience in a health care environment Preferred
