Job Description:
The Regional IT Manager is a hands-on IT operator responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT services across AIR’s Midwest and West operating companies and branches. As part of a nationally distributed IT team, this role is not about sitting back and setting strategy — it’s about being in the mix every day, managing MSPs, providing some direct support, resolving escalations, and ensuring business users receive consistent, high-quality technology support.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong MSP/vendor background who thrives on solving problems, building business partnerships, and leading change to bring fragmented systems in line with AIR standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
MSP Oversight & Daily Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all MSPs supporting the Midwest and West region
- Manage daily escalations, review ticket performance, and hold providers accountable for SLAs
- Identify opportunities to consolidate MSPs to improve service and reduce costs
IT Standards & Change Agent
- Lead the migration of regional systems and practices to AIR IT standards (infrastructure, applications, and security)
- Work side-by-side with MSPs and operating companies to ensure consistent adoption of standards
- Act as the boots-on-the-ground lead for IT transformation projects in the region
Regional IT Ownership
- Ensure uptime, availability, and performance of IT services across all branches
- Partner closely with business leadership (Regional Leader, OpCo Leaders, finance leads, branch managers) to align IT services with business needs
- Take ownership of IT issues from start to finish — driving resolution, not just oversight
Financial & Governance
- Manage the regional IT budget, including MSP contracts, hardware, and software
- Work directly with providers to negotiate renewals, optimize spend, and ensure cost efficiency
- Track and report on IT performance, spend, and risk posture to AIR IT leadership
Experience and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in IT operations, ideally with direct MSP/vendor management
- Proven ability to manage service providers on a daily operational basis (tickets, escalations, SLA management)
- Background in IT infrastructure, support, and security with enough technical depth to challenge providers and solve problems directly
- Strong project/change management skills; proven track record as a change agent
- Hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up leadership style — thrives in execution and problem solving
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both vendors and business stakeholders
- Willingness to travel (~4–5 days/month across the Midwest & West)
Technical Skills
- High degree of proficiency in Active Directory, EntraID & Identity Management
- MS Windows Server & Client OS troubleshooting
- Experience with Virtualization platforms – HyperV, VMware
- Troubleshooting TCP/IP Networks & client connectivity
- Cloud-based VOIP deployments & administration
Success Metrics
- Reduction in ticket escalations and improved MSP responsiveness
- Successful migration of OpCos to AIR IT standards
- Consolidation of MSPs where feasible
- Consistently positive feedback from business users on IT services
- IT spend managed within budget with measurable efficiency improvements
Benefits:
We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Health & Wellness – Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage to support your well-being
- Financial Security – 401(k) retirement plan with company match and short/long-term disability coverage
