This individual will monitor Helpdesk to assist end-users with computer problems involving hardware and software issues on the pc or connectivity to the network. This will be in a team environment, coordinating and working with IT support peers as it relates to the issue at hand. This will include diagnostic troubleshooting work resulting in installations, modifications and/or minor repairs of computer hardware and peripherals or software related issues, following through until the issue is satisfactorily resolved. Thoroughness, initiative, and the ability to work pleasantly with IT team members as well as staff is essential. Providing end users with the technology tools necessary to complete their work is a primary function of this role. Communication to end users will be via Helpdesk software, remote support access and chat, telephone calls or personal visits to the end-user. This individual will be expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced but pleasant environment. The position is on-premise as an internship. Professional attitude, poise and conduct required in addition to appropriate work-attire.
- Responsible for the setup and configuration of pc’s and their related hardware and software installations for deployment to staff.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory and setup of peripheral equipment for field use with pc’s, such as printers, scanners, field monitors. This is also inclusive of research and recommendation of equipment to purchase.
- Responsible for documenting solutions and fixes as they relate to their main areas of responsibility.
- Potential for growth in areas of responsibility including but not limited to senior pc support, network administration, email administration, network engineer.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred.
- Experience in related computer science field of 2 years preferred.
- Available to work 40 hours or more per week including some nights and weekends.
- On call during various peaks seasons of work required.
- Willingness and ability to travel to other locations required, overnight at times.
- Working knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft Office/0365, virus software, email platforms, LAN .
- Knowledge of computer hardware, including printers, scanners, monitors, etc.
- Must have excellent communication & customer service skills.
- Must have the ability to work well with others, including but not limited to the IT department.
- Must have the ability to thoroughly follow through with tasks until satisfactorily completed.
- Must have the ability to follow instructions and report back to the supervisor when tasks are completed, working toward the goal of being responsible and working independently in a team environment.
- Typing speed of 45 or great wpm is required.
- Lifting and transporting of equipment up to 50 lbs.
