Desktop Support Specialist

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, peripherals, and AV/classroom technology.
- Research, resolve, and respond to complex technical issues in accordance with organizational standards and best practices.
- Acquire, maintain, and expand knowledge of relevant product offerings, support policies, and delivery methods to provide technically accurate solutions.
- Participate in or lead team projects that enhance support quality or operational efficiency.
- Consult with end-users to determine hardware, software, networking, and AV/classroom technology needs.
- Recommend appropriate hardware, software, and configuration standards based on user requirements.
- Install and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, software, and network components.
- Assist in supporting and maintaining VDI environments or VMware-based virtual desktop solutions.
- Perform Windows operating system upgrades, including migrating systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
- Document procedures, technical issues, and resolutions. Create and maintain user support documentation.
- Train end-users on proper use of equipment and software.
- May assist in training and mentoring student interns or junior staff.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and participate in the evaluation of new tools and platforms.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Information Technologies or a related field or equivalent technical training required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience providing PC support in a networked environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with VDI or VMware preferred.
- Familiarity with supporting AV/classroom technology equipment such as projectors, displays, sound systems, and control panels.
- Experience performing Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade processes, including driver and application compatibility testing.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and diverse work environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
