- JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
Evaluates manufacturing processes by develop, designing and conducting research methods to improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design; materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
• Identifies and implements continuous improvement actions for existing manufacturing parts, practices and procedures.
• Responsible for creating robust processes that will aide in fabrication of sheet metal components and Tier 1 Assembly functions that will meet customer design and delivery expectations.
• Identifies and implements cost savings and safety initiatives.
• Adapts machine or equipment designs to factory and production conditions.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
• Drives interaction with customers, vendors, contractors, and other NIC support functions and staff to achieve successful relationships and project implementation
• Uses appropriate tools (APQP, DFM, D/PFMEA, VSM, PLC, CNC, Time studies, etc.) to develop processes within the manufacturing scope.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; sheet metal fabrication environment a plus.
• Experience with robotic weld/robotics a strong plus.
• Six Sigma certified helpful.
• Strong analytical, communication, and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) skills; proficient in design software (Solid Works and AutoCAD is desired).
• Must be able to understand design platforms (SolidWorks, Pro-E, Draft sight, and AutoCAD) to analyze and interpret customer expectations.
• Sheet metal experience and Inventory Control knowledge/experience desired but not required. - Packaging and fixture design with GD&T knowledge and application is highly desired.
