We're looking for a friendly and reliable Cashier to be the face of our funky & fun vegetarian food Co-op in Ocean Beach! In this position, you'll learn about Co-ops, Organics, vegan/veggie foods, nutrition & wellness, and you'll meet a wide variety of awesome characters who frequent our grocery store + award winning vegan deli. There are opportunities within the store to train in other departments and to seek career growth.
Here are some of the qualities and responsibilities of a Cashier:
Customer relations: smiles, greets, builds rapport with regulars, explains co-op membership clearly and accurately
Accuracy: drawer is on, enters correct PLU’s, can identify products, knows who to call for returns
Efficiency: maintains consistent/fast pace, pays attention to customer line up to call for back up and acknowledge waiting customers, keeps busy in downtime
Teamwork: interacts and communicates with coworkers, anticipates where others need help
Personal Traits: ability to multi-task, patient, speaks clearly, friendly, ability to handle pressure
Attendance: regular attendance, available to work weekends
Physical: able to stand for long periods, repetitive movements on keyboard and repetitive lifting, able to lift up to 30 pounds
Cashiers provide shoppers with excellent customer service which includes but is not limited to: acknowledging your next customer (eye contact), greeting your customer, explaining membership clearly, knowing when to call backup (manager or cashier)
The end result of a Cashier’s efforts is a satisfied customer whose purchases were rung up accurately and efficiently by a friendly employee.
