Description We are looking for a detail-focused Accounts Payable Clerk to join a well-established organization on a part-time, onsite basis. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys accurate financial processing, values a team-oriented workplace, and is seeking a role with long-term potential. The position offers a flexible schedule of 15-20 hours per week while supporting essential day-to-day accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
Review incoming vendor invoices, assign appropriate accounting codes, and enter information accurately into the organization's accounting platform.
Verify billing documents against purchase records or other supporting materials and route items for proper authorization before payment.
Assist with payment activities, including preparing checks and helping coordinate timely disbursements to vendors.
Reconcile supplier statements, investigate payment variances, and help resolve outstanding issues promptly.
Maintain orderly accounts payable files and ensure financial records are complete, current, and easy to retrieve.
Provide support during month-end close by preparing documentation and assisting with accounts payable-related accounting tasks.
Respond to questions from vendors and internal teams regarding invoice status, payment timing, and account discrepancies. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support position.
Working knowledge of invoice coding, data entry, and payment processing procedures.
Experience assisting with check runs and handling vendor payments with accuracy and timeliness.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Comfortable communicating professionally with vendors and internal departments.
Ability to stay organized while managing multiple invoices and deadlines in a part-time work schedule.
Proficiency using accounting systems and standard office software for recordkeeping and reporting.
